Tim Tadder’s Picture Series “Water Wigs” Captures Lovely Intersection Of Baldness And Water Balloons (Photos)
It’s magical moment when a water balloon splashes atop a bald man’s head, forming a fleeting halo before exploding tape into mist. Thankfully LA based mostly industrial photographer Tim Tadder was there to capture every glorious burst in his sequence “Water Wigs.”
Channeling a love of weirdness, and, we suspect, a smooth spot for “Flashdance,” Tadder rounded up an array of excellent trying bald heads and let the water balloons fly. The ensuing splashes shapeshift into mohawks, halos, and prime hats and George Washington standing wigs. We asked Tadder some questions about his unusual project. Scroll down for a slideshow.
HP: How did you think of the genius combo of bald males and water balloons
TT: We wished to create one thing passion wave hair comical, and arresting. We labored with a mannequin (aka the bendy youngster) in our studio throughout concept section and realized that the water made hair like shapes around the topics. Bald males appeared like an ideal fit to show the water’s shaping so we determined that we might work the idea in the direction of wigs/hair types. It was a blast!
HP: Where did you discover all these good wanting bald males
TT: We shook all of the trees: pals, Facebook, Craigslist, LA Castings, Model Mayhem, everywhere. We didn’t inform them what they had been doing — simply to carry a bathing go well with and a towel. I am glad no one punched me within the face! Some folks came from over two passion wave hair hours away, it was unimaginable!
HP: Did you manipulate the pictures to get the incredible halo-like shapes
TT: We used lengthy skinny balloons to create the shapes; we’d place them on the topics heads and pop them from areas the place you couldn’t see the balloon (ie. the elements hidden off body or behind them.) So truly there are two strategies taking place, one throwing balloons to create the explosions and placing the balloons on the heads and popping them out of view of the digital camera.
HP: Out of curiosity, are you bald
TT: I am not bald, but considered shaving my head for a self portrait. I did take part however I am far too furry!
HP: Who could be your dream bald icon to hit with a water balloon
TT: Natalie Portman when she was bald, or George Foreman, cause he could be hysterical. All of the topics have to be good sports and great with expression!
