Black Individuals Things
So weaves. Its a thing. First question on this thing, and actually, it is sort of the doozy. I plan on holding this blog mild, as in not loads of enormous, BLM sorta conditions because I don’t know a lot about it, but weaves have so much in the realm of racism, standards of magnificence, and how black women in the US are checked out. But here goes.
Weaves are hair extensions which can be clipped in or sewn into the hair already there. They’re hair extensions.
They add fullness to the hair and can give you a whole new look. However it’s mainly attributed to black girls. Why Black women aren’t the only people to make use of hair extensions.
One is that a variety of the time, we damage our hair, making it fall out and break off. Perms, dyes, long black weave and flat ironing can do a lot of damage to your hair, to the purpose the place it falls, out, looses its shine, and may be dry and thin. Weaves get rid of the embarrassment of getting bald spots everywhere in the place.
However why do black women do this predominantly
Effectively, to straighten it.
In a lot of locations, pure hair remains to be considered less pretty than straight hair. It’s looked at as “wild”, “crazy”, and stuff like that (actual things individuals have stated to me). Perms and excess ironing are attempts to make our hair fit in with those around us. White folks. The european-standard look is the usual look that many find probably the most attractive. White people, for a long time, determined what was beautiful, and it wasn’t black ladies. Consequently, black women take to flat ironing our hair, adding perms, which uses chemicals to straighten hair.
When I was little, I hated my hair. I tried to wrestle it straight, flat-ironing, and perming. However that takes upkeep. And it’s arduous to maintain our hair looking straight. My hair, without product, may be “straight” for possibly 2 days if I go outside. The frustration is actual. So this rigorous use of products to look the way in which they do leads to damage to the hair, which ends up in weave. Some cut out the middle man and just go straight to weave.
This isn’t the one motive folks use weaves. Some say its simpler to keep up with. Others similar to the way it seems.
Sometimes, weaves can protect curly hair from the elements. Curls could be fragile, and weaves cover up and protect our hair from the sun and snow.
Some simply do it so maybe people will stop walking up and grabbing our pure hair. Everybody has their very own cause. But the fact that black ladies are really low on the totem pole of enticing when perceived, does it actually surprise that black women attempt to vary it.
